OUR BOARD MEMBERS

Kimberly Rodstein
Kimberly Rodstein is the Vice President of H.R. Mortgage and Realty Company.  Although she had no prior experience with horses, Kim discovered the SFSPCA in 2001 and has been deeply involved with the organization ever since, helping to organize 2 major fundraisers: the Par for the Horse Golf Tournament and Holiday Under the Stars.  On a trip to Texas she became an accidental horseowner when she fell in love with and rescued Max, a neglected Thoroughbred.  She has since learned how to ride and is enjoying spending time with her horse.  She is passionate about traveling, horseback riding and caring for her horse and her dogs— Roki, an SFSPCA rescue and Sofie.

Roy Pressman
Roy has a deep commitment to the welfare and protection of domestic and wild animals. A broadcast engineer by trade, Roy is involved in every aspect of the South Florida SPCA ranging from hands on to administrative duties. He enjoys interacting with volunteers and educating the public. He believes that education is the key to the reduction of animal abuse and neglect. Roy has been the past chairman for our fundraiser "Par For The Horse" . Roy enjoys training, riding and just spending time with his horses, dogs and cats! He served as Training Director for the South Dade Kennel Club and taught  Dog Obedience at Miami Dade Community College for many years.

Laurie Waggoner
Laurie Waggoner is the registered agent and Executive Director of the South Florida S.P.C.A. The organization is appointed by the courts to investigate cruelty charges pertaining to livestock (mostly horses & ponies) and impound these animals during legal proceedings. Laurie, a single mom, has a full time job in another capacity but responds to her SPCA beeper 24 hours a day.  When an arrest is made, Laurie testifies in court on her own time. She is dedicated to seeking appropriate punishment for those who inflict pain on innocent animals. She educates minor offenders as needed

Jeanette Jordan
President, Jeanette Jordan serves as our public relations chair as well as our dog obedience training program director. A broadcaster by profession, Jeanette has been a dedicated volunteer for animal-welfare causes for over 25 years. As well as training her own top-scoring obedience competition dogs, she has served as a board member and obedience training director for the Doberman Pinscher Club of Florida as well as basic obedience instructor at Miami-Dade College for the South Dade Kennel Club. In addition to having served on the board of the Doberman Rescue League, she has also served them as an intake evaluator, adoption evaluator, and foster home for homeless, abandoned and abused Dobermans. Among her many awards, she has been recognized for special achievement by both the Miami-Dade Veterinary Foundation and the Zoological Society of Florida. Currently she shares her home with Chloe, an SFSPCA rescued Jack Russell Terrier. In addition, she shares her heart with Troubadour, a troubled, abused, 20 year old Paso Fino she is sponsoring and working with to restore his broken spirit.

Shelley Patterson
Shelley L Patterson, Board Member, has served the South Florida SPCA since 2004. She currently serves as the Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator. She provides support to the Rescue Ranch as a Marketing Specialist and utilizes her professional skills to promote public education and awareness programs. Shelley has prior animal service experience as a participant in the Pet Therapy Program of the Humane Society of Broward County (HSBC) with her canine companion, Cheyenne (also a AKC Canine Good Citizen). Shelley and Cheynne participated in Education Department programs. They visited schools, children groups and events to raise awareness of the overwhelming number of homeless animals in South Florida and to inform the public about pet responsibility and what individuals can do to help decrease those numbers. Shelley also participated in the P.A.L. (Petting, Affection, Love) program at HSBC. She spent time socializing, comforting and quieting the dogs waiting to be adopted. Shelley attended various volunteer trainings at HSBC and has attended two Technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue (TLAER) seminars taught by nationally recognized trainers. Shelley brings the concepts learned through these top-rate programs to the South Florida SPCA Rescue Ranch.

Ellyn Robinson
Ellyn Robinson has been involved with the SFSPCA since 1996 and a Board Member since 1997. As an animal lover and horse owner she became involved learning about the need in the community. Since the other animal welfare agencies in Dade County are not equipped to handle horses, the SFSPCA fills an important void. Ellyn is inspired by the South Florida SPCA’s noble mission and she likes making a difference in the quality of life for these innocent animals.
Since 1987, Ellyn has been the coordinator of an animal assisted therapy program at Villa Maria Nursing Center. She loves working with the elderly and is assisted by her “therapet” Venus, a golden retriever. She is also a member of the Humane Society of Greater Miami and serves on their Action Committee.
