S.P.C.A. RESCUES 400 ANIMALS FROM SLAUGHTERHOUSE It was a muddy, rainy day in October. We received a tip that someone was slaughtering horses on a ranch in Southwest Miami-Dade county. After investigation, a multi-departmental task force including the South Florida SPCA, Miami Animal Services, Florida Dept of Agriculture, USDA and other agencies took action to rescue over 400 animals including horses, donkeys, pigs, cattle, sheep, goats and fowl. It took 4 days to remove all the animals from the ranch. The owner has been charged with assorted violations. The horses, donkeys, sheep, and goats were transported to the South Florida S.P.C.A. Rescue Ranch. The balance of the animals were placed in ranches in Florida and Georgia. At this time we have over 40 horses available for adoption including the 20 new horses from the slaughterhouse. Photos of the new horses will be posted shortly. We welcome your support so we can continue rescuing defenseless animals that are put in harms way.
