October 31, 2009

Horse slaughter continues in South Florida with the most recent discovery on October 31, 2009. The slaughtered horse was discovered by Mr. & Mrs. Perez while horseback riding in Southwest Dade County. " Today when my husband  and I went on a trail ride we found a slaughtered horse.  It was a young horse, filly.  It was shod."

Richard Couto with the South Florida S.P.C.A. was called to aid in the investigation of this horrifying crime. According to Richard, "The horse was found in multiple parts at SW 207th Ave and 195th Street. She's a three- to four-year-old thoroughbred, you know, a baby, literally in pieces. If you're having barn watches in your communities, keep them going," he said. "If you have security lighting security cameras, if you're bolt locking your gates at night, keep doing that. The problem is not going to go away."

The South Florida S.P.C.A. is continuing to work with authorities to expose the criminals that are slaughtering horses. Please help support us in our efforts. Anyone with information on this latest case is asked to call Miami-Dade CrimeStoppers at 305-471-TIPS
