Hi, I’m Dont’e!
I can’t believe it’s been a year since I was rescued with my mom Shakira. Time flies when you’re safe, well cared for and loved! It seems like yesterday we were brought to the SFSPCA rescue ranch after a good human reported that we were in danger because we weren’t fenced in. I’m so glad that person called.
I was just a little foal back then, skinny and afraid of everything and everyone. Momma kept telling me it was okay, but I wasn’t so sure. I hid behind her a lot. But one day I realized I could trust the nice people at SFSPCA, and I let them lead me around, and pet me. I even let them pick up my hooves and clean them out!
That was the beginning of the best days of my life. I became friends with the other young horses, and not too long ago we were allowed into the big pasture where we get to run and play. The people here are so nice to me, and are teaching me how to be a gentleman because one day I’ll get adopted. But the ones you can ride seem to be the most popular, and I can’t be ridden until I’m older. I heard about this new Sponsor A Rescue program and said, “Pick me!”
