Hi, I’m Gitana!
February 4, 2018 is the day I was saved and I will never forget it. My owner didn’t feed me, then abandoned me alone. I didn’t understand why, and I still don’t. I knew other humans could be kinder, so I walked onto a ranch to see if someone would help. I wasn’t sure how much longer I could live, but just before I gave up, I was rescued.
Once I got to SFSPCA, they named me “Gitana” which is a Spanish name for wanderer or gypsy. When the vet came she frowned and said my body score was a 1, and she noticed one of my hips was lower than the other. I had nowhere to go but up, and I did! I gained my weight back, my hip doesn’t hurt and is less noticeable, and I’ve made many friends.
Most of the other horses here are more adoptable than me, and I understand. I really love it here, so I don’t mind waiting if I have to. They told me about this new Sponsor A Rescue program they were starting, and I jumped at the chance to be included among the first for it. They said yes! Will you say yes, too, and be one of my sponsors?
