After a citizen reported horses being kept in inhumane conditions to Miami Gardens Police, we seized former racehorse Hidden Fling along with two other horses (Autumn and Marshmallow) on Saturday, October 7, 2017. All three were padlocked into their ramshackle stalls, deep with mud, with no drinkable water or edible feed. The owner was not on the premises at the time. Fling arrived severely malnourished with a body condition score of a 1, the lowest on the scale, and with rotted and overgrown hooves. He was attended to by our vet on 10/10/17, and will be in quarantine until 10/28/17. Please check back for updates.
12/17/17 UPDATE: Great news for Fling! His abscess has healed, he’s gaining weight and is so much happier, super playful at turnout and friendly with everyone. We are very encouraged by his progress. While we work to rehabilitate Fling, we’re also standing up for him in court. His owner’s trial date is currently set for Wednesday, December 20, 2017. For details, click here.
