Jodi was rescued with 4 other horses and a pony from the 8.5/East Everglades in SW Miami-Dade on June 28, 2017. (Scroll down to see rescue video.) She and the others were unconfined/at large, posing a danger to themselves and the public. Charges have been filed by police against the owner.
7/7/17 UPDATE: Jodi is sharing a quarantine paddock with fellow rescue Mora, and will be clear on 7/19. She arrived underweight, and we were told her mother had died. She has been evaluated by our vet and is on a proper diet for a growing filly. Jodi is active and energetic, and has really bonded with Mora who has vision problems and suffers from Indigo poisoning. We’ll be working with Jodi on halter training and ground manners as she rehabilitates. Please check back soon for another update on this cutie.
8/17/17 UPDATE: Jodi is out of quarantine and settled into a cozy stall right next to Mora (who is doing SO much better!). She came in quite scared, so we’ve been working on developing her trust. Progress is being made with halter and lead training, and while she’s still skittish, Jodi is also very curious and friendly.
