Lucille is an elderly mare that was found starved and abandoned in the infamous C-9 Basin area of NW Miami-Dade. We rescued her on 1/20/17, and she’s now out of quarantine. With a score of only a 1 on the Henneke Body Condition Scoring System, she was placed on a careful refeeding program and is slowly showing weight gain progress.
Please check back soon for an update on Lucille’s recovery.
5/3/17 UPDATE: Lucille is looking and feeling SO much better! While her weight gain has been slow and steady, she has become a ranch favorite with her super sweet personality. She would be a wonderful companion horse.
