Hi, I’m Martini!
Every day I think about when I was rescued with my friends Cosmo and Sambuca. The three of us were starving inside a filthy barn with no food, and never got to go outside. Our owners lived in their house close to the barn, but didn’t care for us or clean our stalls for months. It was horrible, and we began to lose our faith and trust in humans. We were so sad, and just couldn’t understand what we did wrong.
The best day of my life was when we were rescued on Wednesday, May 27, 2015. The vet came as soon as we got to the ranch to care for us, and the farrier trimmed our long hooves the very next day. He said he was really mad at the people who owned us. I was mad for a long time, but at the same time glad I was saved. Over time, I felt better, safer, and less afraid.
Cosmo has a new home, but Sambuca and I are still at the rescue ranch together. My favorite days are when the volunteers come, especially on Orientation Day. I’m trusted enough to help teach new volunteers about horse safety, grooming, handling and more. Soon I’ll start working with the trainer, and will hopefully get adopted. Until then, having my very own sponsors would mean the world to me. Will you be mine?
